MY CORPUS BASED TEACHING MATERIAL!
Hello my friends and welcome back to my blog! Today I am going to be talking about my experience of creating a corpus-based teaching material for the first time. For this assignment, we were supposed to choose a teaching unit from an English coursebook that is used by preparatory year students in Turkey. Me and my pair ( serra ) chose the difference between the adjectives ending with -ed and -ing (to give an example, bored/boring) from Unit 5. The reason is that we as Turkish EFL students have found it hard to differentiate between these usages when we started learning English. Thinking that our target audience may also struggle with this issue, we wanted to design our material on this topic. With this corpus-based material, our students will be able to have a chance to use technology effectively in the language classroom as well as take part in the discovery learning process which is an important component of 21st century learning.
